What is JEEP?

Job Enabling English Proficiency is your key to innovative ways of learning the English language. To do so, JEEP is offering computer-assisted learning platform for students who are willing to learn the English language using technology and new media.   

Why was JEEP designed?

USAID, through GEM Program and in partnership with Surigao State College of Technology, has supported the development & implementation of JEEP to help graduating university & college students compete successfully for jobs that require high degree of English proficiency.

Has JEEP been offered in other colleges and universities?

More than 20 higher educational institutions from around Mindanao have joined this shared educational missions in collaboration with USAID-GEM. Participating state and private HEIs in Mindanao have worked collectively to establish innovation in learning the English language and to reach out to students of all ages and cultural backgrounds. 

Who can take JEEP courses?

JEEP will be available to all bonafide SSCTians who are officially enrolled in the language program. Based on the provisions in the BOT Resolution No. 234, s. of 2011, JEEP has been "embedded" in the curricula of Engineering, Teacher Education, Industrial and Information Technology. Moreover, JEEP will actively explore the possibilities of offering the program to outsiders, and looks forward to work with other students from around Caraga Region and Mindanao.

Will certificates be awarded?  

Yes. JEEP Finishers can earn a certificate of completion. Certificates will be issued under the name of Surigao State College of Technology and USAID-GEM.

What will the scope of the courses be?

Our goal is to help nurture and sustain pathways of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) covering the four (4) macro skills of communication: listening, speaking, reading and writing, which make students enjoy learning the English language. ESP has been anchored to the practical use of English in daily experiences among L2 Learners such as Business English, Hospitality English, among others. 

How may I start to enroll with JEEP?

Simply complete the enrolment form. Pay off Php 950.00 to the Cashier. Enrolling JEEP will allow you to register for JEEP classes, and to experience fun treats and extension activities, and to receive a certificate on successful completion.  

What technology will JEEP use?

JEEP features DynEd courseware providing interactive English language learning made by international experts and designed specifically for computer-assisted learning. Features include self-paced learning, placement tests, study records, voice recording, and other interactive learning tools and applications.
